Well I got a new carryon backpack for my birthday and its time to compare the old vs the new.
So to start with the CorSurf bag is a 28 liter volume and the Deuter is 36 liter. The smaller bag is easily qualifies to be a “personal item” on most domestic flights and it fits under the seat on most planes in coach. The Deuter is pushing it for a “personal item”. My wife and I have both used the Deuter bag as a “personal item” on American Airlines without hassle from the gate agents but its definitely a grey area.
The Deuter has a few nice features lacking on the CorSurf bag. The larger bag has a much better “office” area featuring more pockets and organization for pens and books etc. The. CorSurf has better organization in the main compartment and a couple hidden pockets on the back. Deuter also has the ability to tuck the backpack straps away for a snag free bag. Both have a tunnel for a roller bag handle.
For me I use the CorSurf now as it is smaller and easier to ensure under seat stowing. My wife now uses the Deuter bag as her “personal item” for short flights, overnights at work and road trips.
So tell me what do you use for a carry on bag? Is there a bag I should try and review? Let me know and I’ll await your feedback.
Seek adventure and get busy living.
