Did you get a chance to fly before 9-11-2001? Remember how security was a metal detector and you ran your bags through the machine? Well… Pre-Check security experience is similar to what security was like before TSA existed.
TSA Pre-check is a background check you do that gives you 5 years of use for $78. Many travel oriented credit card companies will cover the cost if you use the card for the purchase.
The benefits – when you approach security you don’t have to remove your shoes, computer, or liquids from you bag and simply walk through the metal detector and off you go to the gate. One extra tip I learned is that after they check your ID and boarding pass put everything from your pockets into you bag and you can walk through super quickly.
Is it worth it? For me yes. Last year I flew domestically more than twice a month. Its less invasive than removing shoes and holding arms up for the scanner and removing stuff out of your bag then repacking your liquids, computer and putting on shoes again.
Do you use TSA Pre-Check? What about Global Entry? I just got approved for Global Entry and will relay my experience with Global Entry soon.
Seek adventure and get busy living.
