Collect memories and not things. That is why for Christmas we gifted the family a trip. This trip was to Universal Studios and then over to St. Augustine in Florida.

For this trip we stayed a few days at the Universal’s Endless summer resort. It was a nice facility with great rooms for families. The resort also had bus transport to the resorts which was better than paying for parking. There was a big pool also but….. it was cold. We tried it out but it was just not fun due to the weather.

When the kids were young I would read to them before bed. One of the first series I read to them was the Harry Potter series. As time has gone on the girls have grown to love the Potterverse. There is plenty of great things to see, hear and taste for the Potterheads out there.
The second half our week we went to St. Augustine to enjoy some history which is more of a favorite for Gabriel and myself. We walked the historic district of St. Augustine and visited the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument.

Rain and cold weather made the beach not really part of this trip. We all know we are beach people.

We did visit the St. Augustine lighthouse one rainy and windy day. We also took a trolly train ride to see the lights still up from Christmas in the historic district. Word to the wise – read the fine print on the tour pages…. it was a fella whose voice reminded me of Richard Simmons singing Christmas carols as we drove around town rather than a history tour. It was also not cheap – so read the fine print.
Food was great in St. Augustine. We discussed returning and had initially planned to return this summer but due to schedule conflicts our plans changed.
Despite the weather we enjoyed the blessings of being able to travel as a family.
Seek adventure and get busy living.
