Unexpected surprises in Gallup, New Mexico is the theme of this assignment. This is one of our busiest areas in the company. We have 3 planes and 2 helicopters at this base. The volume of flights we do out of here is amazing. As a float its expected that we will rotate through here a few times per year. This is my first visit back in over a year.

The first half of my assignment had me busy mostly at night and we had some challenging patients. What always makes the assignments good is the company – both guys I worked with were both good paramedics and good company. Despite the busy call volume and high acuity I enjoyed working with these guys.

So I didn’t expect to see snow, sleet and a dust storm all in one week but I managed to witness all. Snow and sleet in Gallup and a dust storm down in El Paso, TX. Just crazy weather.

What other surprise? Well Khao Soi in Farmington, NM. I also know there is a wonderful 24/7 bakery close to the airport in Gallup.

Another busy hitch. Good company, whacky weather and great food.
Where to next do you think?
Seek adventure and get busy living.
